I broke something in the transmission

Well. I'm Upset...

My 94 C280's trans decided to not play nice anymore. Has trouble moving in first, seems to be slipping, same in reverse. not really bucking or shuddering, drove fine all day until the ride home tonight. Took off from the light a little faster than usual, felt like the tires broke loose, but the tach shot up and i let of the gas, and i acted up the 2 miles back to my house. 722.4 rebuild kit is $300, but im sure it will cost a fortune. It was such a nice day outside today too.......

there was one on craigslist a couple weeks ago for $350!!! with 60k on it. I though it would be nice to have a backup, but of course i didnt buy it. now its not on anymore, dammit. I havent really had a chance to look and see whats out there yet. I have no qualms with a used tranny, better than a broken one, and way cheaper than a rebuilt, which seem to be around 1200 bucks.

I'd flush it with seafoam first.

drove it this morning. light shudder from a stop, wont drop into first with the gear selector for a couple seconds. reverse seems to be slipping as well. sucks. 170k aint bad, and 50k of those were hard miles by me. so i like to think it made it pretty far, lol

when i go to reverse from drive my car moves forward a little bit and vice versa. It seems to be getting worse too. Also when I put my car on park sometimes it rolls back a little bit before clicking. when i drive changing gears seems to be troublesome at times too. i thought it would be valid to bring up my troubles too. I didn't mean to thread jack.

every single MB I've ever been in rolled a little once you put it in park. From 1960's era classics to 2010 E class.

wow so it wasn't just my car after all. How about reverse to drive and drive to reverse?

You guys don't think this could have anything to do with the valve body or springs ect?

The slipping, I wouldn't think so. Did you check the fluid level and color?
