Electric Mirrors not working!!

I have bought a 1997 250 td and i have discovered the elecrical adjustment on the mirrors is not working. Could anyone give me a clue as to where to start looking for the fault ?
I assume there is a relay and a fuse involved but i have no circuit diagrams or location of parts diagrams .Help!!!

On my 96 c280 mine didn't work at first. As the car was purchased used 195k miles. Upon tear down of the control switch some one over the course of the cars life had spilled something on the center console saturating the contact points in the mirror control(looked like black tar). A little elbo grease, some rubbing alcohol, and q-tips and reassembly and mine are working fine. Hoping this helps.
