Ok I need some guidance. I would like to change the muffler to of my I6 c280 to a slightly louder one. I have seen all the youtube videos and I was thinking more of 14815. I would like a nice tone but not the fart canon that hondas have, I hate that. I would like to hear it only when I push. Do you think that 14815 or other magnaflow mufflers would be a good choice for me. I don't want the muffler to be to loud and obnoxious. When I was reading the threads about exhausts, on person was talking about changing the resonator with a magnaflow one would that make it louder or quieter?

i have that muffler just with different tips. I also have a magnaflow resonator in place of the stock one. Before I did that i just had the rear magnaflow and it sounded good as well. Along with a K&N intake. Sounds beautiful, not too loud, I honestly would like a little more burble, so im going to take out the cats next. You will like the magnaflow alot. I6's sound nothing like hondas, even if you put a fart can on!

I ran the 14815 for a short while it sounded / looked great Although I ran magnaflow 46003 high flow CA CARB legal obd2 cats to a resonator delete. to the muffler. Now i run just high flow cats to straight pipe =D the M104 sounds BEAST when unrestricted. LOL straight pipe in my case is solely for being loud and obnoxious as the 14815 gave it that perfect exhaust tone. and only got crazy when you really opened her up.

Just as long as you don't get any straight chambered muffler, you should be alright. I have a resonator delete and a straight chambered muffler on my 96 C280 right now and it sounds awesome at mid-range to redline, but drones a lot around idle. It's also rather loud too.

good thing the magnaflows are straight through no baffles or chambers just smooth deep tone, with a healthy dose of scream from 4500-redline, glorious to be honest ;)

I don't understand what you mean by "straight chambered muffler" w202FTW is the magnaflow 14815 a chambered muffler? one more question what size should i get it because there were different sizes when I was looking online? I found one on amazon from magnaflow seller for $130 is that a good price? Thank you for you answers so far

as i said in my last post magnaflows are not chambered mufflers (ie flowmaster/dynomax) they are straight thru, (ie borla) no baffles, you can see straight through to the otherside if you look into the muffler.

All of their street mufflers are straight-thru ( i.e. straight chambered ). You can pretty much get anything, a good welder should be able to just about hook anything up.

Well it's on, I had the C36 AMG muffler welded on today. Here's the results:

oh LOL make a thread for your exhaust. Is that just the rear muffler from a 36 bolted or welded on resonator and everything in place ? sounds pretty damn good even though its just a 2.8 M104

The C36 muffler slides right onto the original donuts, and I had it welded to the end of my straight pipe ( i.e. reso delete ). As far as I know, the entire back muffler network is welded up onto the catalytic converters.

man that sounds amazing, just like "fordcrossie" said on the video that is how a benz is suppose to sound. is the 14815 going to be anything close to that.

The Magnaflow muffler will sound more closer to my video of the straight chambered muffler with no resonator delete. If you chop out the resonator while running a straight chamber muffler ( there's another video of that too ) it will be very obnoxious to drive everyday.

hey I'm fordcrossie from youtube, best exhausts for the 280 are, remus supersprint AMG eisenmann, magnaflow is a good exhaust but it makes the car loud nomatter what speed your driving, it just doesn't releally suit the car in my opinion.

I had a magnaflow on my i6 C280.. it was horrible inside, drown throughout the RPMs. It sounded great outside though, but it drowns badly.

Does anyone have pictures of the Magnaflow 14863 and 14833 mufflers on our cars? I'm leaning toward square tips when I install my Rieger rear skirt this summer. I will probably delete the resonator while I'm at it as well.

Sorry for bringing it back I'm beginning to like the magnaflow 14830 or the 14861 does anyone have any pictures of them. does the 14830 tips look like the amg tips or are they too small. anf6789 is your magnaflow a 14830 if it is can you take a better picture please. and what do you guys think of taking my car to meineke are they any good. there are barely any good shops in Maryland and the ones that are are about one hour away from where i live. Mike D on youtube there are some videos of people with 14833's on their on w202's. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HY2wYcTAJgo

I ended up just getting the 14833. The size of the tips is perfect for me, now to just get the muffler installed...

A bit off topic, is the 280 I6 obnoxious without a resonator or does it sound nice. Any recommendations?

97c280 what kind of magnaflow did you used to have, I got mine (14830) installed on wednesday and i hate it because of the drone that it has. I don't know how the people that have magnaflows deal with it man. I hope it will get a little quieter with time as it brakes in I will give it about 1 week, because I love the way it looks, but I just can't take the drone. People with magnaflow did the muffler get quieter or is it just the same?

mine barely droned. i liked the tone it had. and i wanted it louder and smoother so i put a magnaflow resonator in as well. I remember when i first got the muffler installed i thought it was too loud, but then it grew on me and i loved it.

It only drones below 2500 rpm, and if you go above 3500 it sounds amazing don't get me wrong but i just hate it when i push the gas after a complete stop like red lights or stop signs. it feels good when i'm cursing and i take the foot of the gas, is quiet. I wish it was like that when I get of a complete stop. Anythink I can do? I will but back the OEM air filter even though is dirty and now I have a K&N drop in, and I have a little dynoliner i'm gone put in the trunk to see if it will change anything.

So a friend of mine has been researching somethign called a Helmholtz Resonance Theory.. and its pretty popular topic in the camaro/corvette/trucks scene. It seems like a easy thing to do, except for measuring the pipe length. People also name it T pipe or J pipe which you add a capped pipe to your exhaust to eliminate the drone, depending on your drone RPM range, the pipe size will vary. there is a formula around the net too.

Here is a thread that has many camaro drivers doing the J pipe/helmholtz theory and seems to work for them.....
