Is there a sole out there that knows about a ac compressor?? Mine is locked up!!! After all the motor work started on other things. The center clutch was burnt out. Not even thinking of the possibility of the main shaft being frozen solid. Maybe that's why it was burnt out!! lol. On to my question, why does a new ac comp need oil? The Behr does not come with a install kit, neither does 4winds. They cost twice as much as other no name brands(have not inquired as to why to specifc manufactures yet.) The no name brands (ebay) offer condensation resivours, orings, oil , and what seems to be the complete kit. If i buy a salvaged ac comp do I need to have new oil added to It . They come with a 1 year warrenty and cost $200. I do understand orings will be required. As to how the motor ran without the clutch raising all kind of cain. The belt rides on a seperate part of the ac clutch, once the clutch is engauged is where the god awful racket starts!!!! Any Ideas as to how and why oil is needed? If I buy a used from a salvage yard is oil required? Cause they won't say a word. They would just prefer yuo burn it up and buy another one. Just want to do this correct!!! Thanks All!!

its a mechanical pump, so it needs lubricating. if you take it to a mechanic they'll do it all for you.
you cant do it your self unless you have a refridgerant licence. i mean you could change it yourself, but you need to suck it down and regas it somehow, plus find out how much oil is required

the numbers might also have been imprinted into the metal plate too. I'll cross my fingers for you. You should be able to call the parts department of the dealer give them your vin and ask them for a price on a new compressor. During the conversation, ask them for the part number while you think about ordering the part. Then you can use the actual part to do searches for remanufactured.
