Bilstein Sports with Eibach Springs. Rides and handles like a complete dream! Although pretty bumpy ride on not-so-great roads with 18" wheels.

98Benzo

Yeah I figured I would be rubbing on turns because there no clearence in the front wheel wells. My tires are 225/40/18. Yours are the same specs?

The whole "except sports package" thing throws me off. Are there no Bilsteins that will fit my car?

zmatt
07-23-2012, 04:47 PM
They should fit, as far as I know the sport package just has stiffer springs and shocks than stock. The only way they wont is if you have auto leveling suspension, i dont think 202s had that though.

Ok so im in the market for springs and shocks and im going to go with the H&Rs and the bilstein sports series B8..... now I saw that they have it for cheap price on partsgeek.com but my car is 99c230K and on the web says "except on the sport model" .... can anybody give me more info on this ...????.... You can put those shocks on any of our cars, they just say those dumb "warnings"

Just be aware that those "dumb warnings" will void any sort of warranty on your shocks should you choose to install them anyway and they fail.
Ask me how I know...

Ok ... Now my other question is that once i do the bilsteins and H&Rs will my car have a stiff ride ?? I seen on other forums that they recommend eibachs with bilsteins bc they are smoother !!! Can anybody verify that??!!! ....
Thanks for all the help guys

Yea I'm having the same dilemma. I have read that eibach has a more comfortable ride but doesn't lower the car as much. Also do the eibachs have the tendency to lower the rear more then the front or something like that?

Karlo1988
03-12-2013, 07:43 PM
yeah they say that eibachs sag but overall they are pretty good too...... i ordered H&R springs already.... now the only thing i need to figure out is which shocks im going to buy??... i been reading a lot on mercedes nd bmw forums that the koni yellow adjustables give you a good ride bc you can adjust them .... now the bilsteins b8s are non adjustable so big question is which one is better ride quality, while keeping comfort?? does it make a big difference that you can adjust the konis to the softest setting ?? koni yellows or Bilsteins B8s??? anyone??

anf6789
03-13-2013, 01:40 PM
they sell koni yellows with and without the adjustment, just be sure of which ones you are buying.. The better the handling, the stiffer the ride.. they usually go hand in hand..

Koni Yellows on the softest setting are softer than my Billy B8s. Also B8s will break with hard driving on a lowered 202, so get Konis with the solid lower bushings.

Both versions of Koni Yellows are adjustable, just one is external, and one you must remove to adjust.

the koni sport external adjustment how is it done. do you take it off the car because that would be a big inconvenience. I was thinking of getting eibach and bilsteins sport, but if i dont have to get the koni sports off the car to change the stiffness that would be sweet.

They are adjusted at the shock rod which is located at the top, under your hood for front and behind the panels in the rear trunk.

I had ordered Bilstein Sports from Tire Rack and they also had a delivery date of a week or two. Luckily my set just came in and I am in the process of installing them. Should be finished tomorrow. refreshing quit a bit in the front end... Polyurethane Bushings for Control Arms, Ball Joints, Center Drag Link/Tie Rod Assembly, and Bilstein Sport Shocks (front and rear)

I have Bilstein Sports on my VW MkV and they're firm but very comfortable. I've ridden in Koni Yellows and either the owner did not set them right with their springs or it just doesn't ride smooth and comfortable.

how is the ride? which pads did you end up using? It should settle and drop some more right.

So i got my h&r sports on with the bistein b8 shocks along with all new lca bushings, a new steering dampner, and replacing a outer tie rod end and the thing is amazing! So flat in the corners and still a nice ride. I have no pads in the front and 5mm in the back, its a beautiful ride. My old shocks i could compress without even trying and my lca bushings were barely holding on

Couldnt agree more with mike..... I installed my H&R springs first with stock shocks and it wasnt bad at all like others like to say otherwise... yesterday I did my b8s and the car rides pretty good not a stiff ride whatsoever ..... I would def recommend my set up .... but if your budget is low and can only do springs dont stress it the ride is good too
