Have you had a look at the belt tensioner?
They usually make this noise noises similar to this when they are on the way out

It does sound like a belt tensioner issue.

goto autohausaz.com
enter your car make and model
search for keyword "tensioner" or "belt tensioner"
While you're at it, get the tensioner pulley and replace that one too.

Simple DIY. Search in the repairs section of this forum.

Where in the great white north are you? Alberta Prairies here.

If you have to buy a manual heck your already a leg up on me!! 200$ for a whole car didn't know that! Another $100 and the help from the folks here. Your car won't let you down. Just gotta learn it! Don't be a girl, turn the key and drive till it stops!! You got a car that will be there for another 150k! Just maintain it.

Mine is a non-Kompressor but you get the idea. This is what it sounded like after I replaced the belt tensioner and pulley. Took me about 30 minutes.

Was the little old lady at the food pantry when you ripped her off? Unless its got major mechanical
problems that car should have gone for $3-4K. Spend the savings at a mechanic.

Easy diagnosis to know if it's something BIG or something small.

Remove the serpentine belt. Start the engine and see if the noise went away. If the noise is still there, you have a serious issue with your supercharger or the top end of the engine (valves, lifters).

Dude, take it to a mechanic. Maybe he'll rip you off as badly as you did the little old lady.

Good deal's not the same as a rip off. Wanna sell your car for two hundred bucks?

You are getting way off topic.
The original poster was asking for some help and opinion to determine where the top end noise is coming from.

I already warned you. Stay on topic or get off this thread.

Just 'fess up that you swindled the old lady out of her car. Then we'll drop the subject.

Holy hot Hell. Sounds like a combination of bad lifters, misfiring ( or coils ) and a dry supercharger. For 200 CND, you might have picked up an expensive fix there lol

Sounds like a blown head gasket. Gonna run ya two grand min. Li'l ol' lady gonna have the last laugh.

$450 valve job and head resurface, $125 head gasket, $40 valve cover gasket kit. And if you can do it yourself as I did way below duflunkie tiny tims estimate! ! Lmao

Out of line timmyj51. You've no idea about the circumstances and have no right to jump on a new member like that. you're a senior member with 189 posts, and 6 of them are these?

I like Sulaco's suggestion.
