Hello all,

From my other post (http://www.club202.com/forums/showthread.php?16928-What-do-the-part-numbers-by-the-radiator-correspond-to), I mistakenly thought that the identification plate contained the part number of the radiator somewhere in there.

Since this is not the case, how can I tell what the radiator part number is, or what radiators would work with our car?

I will be attempting to change the radiator (as I was told by Pep Boys that it has a leak at the bottom and needs to be replaced) and was also told that I need to get the right part and the model number will be located near the radiator (which is why I thought that the identification plate had the info).

We have a 1997 C230.

Thank you hvmercy.
At the autopartswarehouse site (http://www.autopartswarehouse.com/sku/Mercedes_Benz/C230/Behr/Radiator/1997/Base/4_Cyl_2-dot-3L/BEH376712021.html), it is a little cheaper.

What other parts (tubes/hoses/clips/clamps/rings/etc.) should be replaced during this job?

Thanks for providing another web link to make price comparison. I also have a 1997 C230.

I have not replaced my radiator therefore I can't tell you. However, I have replaced my radiator hoses (top and bottom) as well as water pump in the last couple of years. Both of which are easy DIY.

Use Mercedes Benz recommended coolant too.

Are you for sure the leak is in the radiator? If a leak in the lower area is it passenger of driver side? Is your bottom plastic cover on, so you can see the bottom side of the radiator? If cover is off on the driver side is the drain for the radiator. I'd check that lil drain screw for tightness before i purchased a new radiator. And even then If the drain plug is removed it has a small o-ring on it, the lil o-ring might be shot. All depends on where the leak is.

Taz,
The leak is in the lower area on the driver's side. I'll check the tightness of the drain screw to see if it makes any difference. Thank you.
