Testing the waters; what would you pay for a 97' C36 AMG:

Rare Emerald black color, 5-speed manual conversion along with 3.69 rear end, race seats w/4point harness, fresh head gasket and new wire harness, sunroof deleted for weight savings, lowered w/ new bilstien sport shocks, polyurathane bushings, 18" S500 wheels (look similar to mono II) with fresh tires and alignment, C32 front brake kit and stainless steel brake lines. Throw it on CL for $10,000 OBO with some high resolution pictures. I'm sure someone will be interested.

That's what I was hoping. I know to the people who dont know about 202's (97% of the world) its not worth more then 5k to them. But someone who knows the cars' true value, backround, rarity and the rarity of the color and features, 10k may be a deal!

$10K might be a bit too much of a stretch. Mercedes Benz AMG enthusiasts who are tuned to car forums such as club202 etc. do their due diligence extensively, especially on the fair market price.
In addition they also factor in the information they find in places such as NADA and Bluebook websites. I personally think these 2 sites are biased but hey, that's a reality we have to deal with.
Contact carmax and find out what they are willing to give you for your C36. GLWS.

I am not looking for a lowball offer on my car knowing its only to be sold for profit. I am basically looking to see if there is an enthusiast out there interested and who appreciates the car, otherwise it's not for sale.

10k is not much of any stretch considering there are still C43's out there listed for $11k-17k, and finding another C36 in my color with a manual transmission is not reasonable. Hope this picture upload works,

Indeed. I suggest you keep this if you're an AMG collector.

Yea I have to record a vid. I'm in no hurry to let the car go, but if someone offers me 10k or a good offer I'll let it go. I love the car but I just can't settle for one car lately and have been buying/selling cars (losing money on some deals) just because I'm getting bored.

sadly i'm in europe:(

How do you reckon I feel?
Most c36's here aren't kept as well as they should and are above $15k

Just as an update: I had a guy with 7k cash and he was turned down. As for California buyers, the factory TCU was coded out and there is no check engine light regarding automatic type 6 codes. Right now working was BAR to get a CARB legal certificate and it will be a 100% street legal manual conversion. The hiccup was that these never were availible in manual transmission therefor CA needs to inspect and approve of it. Should be no problem though.

I think the value of the AMG W202 is too low anyways, so I have no problem with your price point.

BAR inspection isnt a problem at all since there is no changes made to emission related parts, cats ect.

This thursday its going to the body shop to get the front end repainted due to rock chips. =)
