Okay, so my ABS lights been on for ages. My car has failed MOT last week, because of it.
I've had 3 garages try reading the codes - first garage failed because his software was too upgraded for my car, second garage had a faulty mercedes adaptor, and third could clear the rest of my codes BUT struggled to find a fault with the ABS.
So I took the car to my friend who owns a garage, pretty much a top notch indy. He fixed everything on the list of MOT failures, (main brake line front and back corroded, stud removal from front nearside hub, yes, that was all.. LOL) And to tackle the ABS problem, he manually checked every ABS sensor on the car, which to our surprise only has three? So upon that, he found the rear brake sensor was completely gone, crushed.. which apparently could explain why the computers couldnt read the ABS ? So he went ahead and replaced that sensor which costed £100 and then when I went to pick up the car, the ABS light was still on and we are both quite confused as to why.
Does the car need its ABS fault codes cleared before the light switches off? From our understanding the light would flash once if there is still a problem with the ABS..
