I've installed couple of dozen of amps in the past 20+ years, many Soundstreams, but this 5 channel P5.610 (Picasso series) kinda baffles me a little, I even opened the plastic bag and opened the instruction manual:

Never seen such configuration... Am I to understand that front speakers wired as such:

Front Right positive to Positive terminal Ch 1, Front Right negative and Front Left positive to the same terminal (shared Ch 1 and 2 terminal), then Front Left negative to it's own negative terminal Ch 2????? And the same for the rears (Ch 3 and Ch 4)???

That's like wiring dual voice coil subwoofer in series...??? I pre-wired all as this diagram showing, just haven't put the fuse in, feeling rather "odd" about this method Soundstream is showing...

Thanks in advance!!!

D

Yep, for bridged mode, indeed look correct, but for stereo speakers - never seen such configuration. And there is no missprint on the manual either, here snap of that side of the amp (directly from Soundstream site)...

I'll call them in a little bit, looks like it's how they intended it by design, now I just want to know why???

maybe channel 1 and 2 are the left side, 3 and 4 the right??? so its more like a 3 channel amp, you are running the front and rear channels in series? thats how i run my system of a 4 channel amp... i think lol

I tell you... I swear, I think it's the first time in almost 20 years I've actually pull the instruction manual and looked at it, and been a little confused...

Anf - it is a true 5 channel amp though

Ch1 (RT Front)
Ch2 (LT Front)
Ch3 (RT Rear)
Ch4 (LT Rear)
Ch 5 (Sub), Monoblock D

Got the hold of the tech at Sounstream "Shared chassis across Picasso line does not allow for much more extra room for extra terminals, so these are wired exact way as you see in the diagram..."

Yes, Left and Right (Front) DO share terminal post, so do the Left and Right (Rear) on this amp... First time for everything!

Thanks all!
