Has anyone ever tried to feed their iPod output into the original radio/Head Unit thru the connector for the CD changer? Seems it should be possible.
Then when the iPod is on and the CD button pressed on the head unit / radio the iPod should play back thru the Bose sound system. Any thoughts? thx

there is something you can buy that hooks up to the aux input... you can send your radio to bekker and they can install that for you... still havent found the nicest one for cheap....

It'll be a temporary solution if you find the right pins but the audio will be either way too loud or way too quiet (probably the latter of the two). Alternately, a new head unit with the capability to play back mp3 inputs can be found today for well under $100 and usually results in better sounding audio than you could ever get with OEM for this application.

I tried a few things and this looks like a non-starter...

get an aftermarket head unit. Blaupunkt makes units the look oem-ish and wont be out of place. Until you do that then just get a $5 cassette adapter and run it that way. I do and it sounds fine.

I have a 2000 c280 sport and i was wondering if all '00 c280 sport came with bekker or Alpine OEM radio head unit? Or is taking out the head unit my only option to find out what kind i have? Reason i ask is i found a connector that i can connect an auxiliary cord to the OEM and i need to know if i have 8 or 10pin without taking out the radio Thanks!

it should be a bekker as it is OEM... Alpine (i think) is OEM to japanese brands...

there's an ipod hook up kit for sale (if it is a bekker)... you just have to find out the correct model of your stereo... (www.http://beckerautosound.com)

or if you have an aftermarket HU, you should have either an adaptor to plug in as a coax cable or should have a straight hookup... check on the manual of the HU

I've got to put my Alpine head unit into the car soon, and that has an iPod lead coming out of the back... Where would you bring the lead out? Is there a hole in the back of the glove box? Or is my only option to bring it out under the centre console?

you can do that or drill a hole inside the glove box
