Okay.. my car's notorious for groove-tracking and rubbing on the inside of wheel wells in front so I wanna get spacers... problem is, how big?

I'm only running 8" wide all around (225) so I was thinking 15-20mm H&R hubcentric spacers in the rear (I've got about 30-35 mm clearance from the sidewall to fender) and 5mm in front, just to get rid of the rubbing.

Has anyone done this yet? Do these numbers seem like they'll fit? Seems like most people on this board are running 8.5 or 9.0 with the same offset (I'm also on 35mm) TIA!!

EDIT: i know this topic's been used before, but I'm looking for specifics, like tire width in conjunction with spacer size to get a better idea of what will work for me. None of the previous threads on spacers had this info. Thanks everyone!

I run 10mm h&r on the rear of my 8x18 wheels in the back with 225.

You probably can get away with 15mm too as the 10mm I have still have room left.

OZ F1 right? You may have to use your stock bolts as the ones from OZ will be to short.

I'm running 19x8.5's all around with an offset of 35 also, tires r 225's all around and I have 15mm H&R hubcentric spacers on the rears.
I dont think u could run spacers up front theres no way u could fit them, at least not very thick ones. I rub on the inside of my wheel wells.. and on my fenders a little. but I'm just gonna live with it!! I like being as low as I am.. dont want to raise it up at all.. gotta be dumped!

Why would spacers make a difference when it comes to groove tracking?

I used to have spacers on my car, and never felt any difference with or without...car still tracked.

But I felt a big difference moving from a 235 tire back to a 225 up front....the 225 tracks less...

I can see the larger contact patch being the reason for less straight-line stability...but spacers....I know they increase track...but would this affect straightline stability?

It has been suggested. in order to minimize tramlining, you could increase the tire pressure.

you may even need to get a longer bolt.

but don't worry H&R also sell longer bolt for their spacers :)

I gave H&R like 3 tries to send me the right length bolts in the end I said forget it and found my stock bolts were the right size. But yeah they do try to send you the correct bolts.... but in their thinking longer bolts to fit oem wheels not aftermarket wheels.

hmmm... the bolts on the OZ's are conical vs the spherical OEM ones... I'll probably have to specify that with H&R or get them from somewhere else... thanks for the info guys! :)

So no spacers in front?

hey c230 what size lugs did you need for the rears using the 10mm spacers?

im not sure how to measure them. but they were i guess 10mm longer than the stock ones?

I can testify to that... tried this on a W210. inflated the
tires 3psi under the maximum allowed pressures, as indicated
on the tire. (not the MB recommened PSI numbers)

straight as it can be after that... as long as the pavement is not too bumpy
