18" E55 AMG w210 Tire fitment on 1996 C36 AMG QUESTION

Hi Guys,

Just wondering....I was lucky enough to find w210 18" E55 AMG Wheels to put on my 1996 C36. I know recommended tire sizes for this are 225/40/18 fronts and 255/35/18 rears.

I'm able to get a pretty good deal on a slightly used set of tires. But the rears are 255/40/18s....not the recommended 255/35/18....will this still it with out rubbing/clearance issues? in the future i plan to lower my c36 using H&R Sport Springs 1.25" drop all around.

If I remember correctly, the rear wheels on the E55 were 9 inches wide. I'm running the 255/35/18 setup on my 9.5 inch rears with #1 spring pads on Eibach Pro Springs (about the same drop) and it just barely clears the fenders. The final result will depend on your camber, spring pad #s, and how spaced out your wheels are. Mine are spaced out to ET31.
