Going to tackle the engine and diff fluids this week.

Great deal until tomorrow at Costco until tomorrow. 6 qts of Mobil 1 Full Synthetic for $27 + tax. I got 3 cases.

My question is which brand of filter should I go with? Not a FRAM fan, but I see MANN and others. Please help.

The K&N performance oil filter works great However it is VERY expensive at nearly $30 dollars per filter per oil change. I used them a couple times just because i didnt want the generic "autozone" brand.

Hit the stealership today for a part only they carried.

The little plastic elbow was a jaw dropping $5 and the copper washer $1.30. I picked up an OE oil filter while I was there and found out there is a recall for the cam solenoid they will fix for free. Worth finding out if your car needs the fix too.

since you were already at the dealer, why didn't you get one there? I bought mine from Smythe European MB in San Jose.

The problem with aftermarket filters is that most of the time they are made of paper. The factory filter is made of fleese, does a much better job filtering the oil and will not come apart after a wile.

The service manual specifies Champion, Fram or OEM filters. I used an AC Delco filter on mine, but MANN filters will works fine.
