Not a good idea. USed tranny fluid still have friction (worn clutch) material in the fluid that helps it not slip as much. General rule of thumb when having trans problems is NOT to change the fluid. Fresh fluid is garantied to kill immediately a trans that is on its way out.

I've heard both sides I don't know what to do all I could think of is sell the 280 ASAP

Go dump some Lucas trans fix in there and see what happens. If its gonna break its gonna break.

Does anyone know if what happend to my tranny is related to me disconnecting the transmission to radiator lines maybe they needed new o rings and its catching air and making it act dumb now

Why are we hoping that some off the shelf fluid is going to fix his tranny? For goodness sake tow the car to a shop, have them look at it and pray that it's only some blown O-rings or some bad vacuum leak.

This. If there is a problem with your trans try to diagnose it without taking things apart. I was getting ready to do trams maitenence to my 202 because it felt like it was shifting hard. Turns out the trans mount is on its way out.

You have a '96 and '97 so does it not work for both?

Is it wrong in the sense that it is from a C280 vs a C36? they should both be 4 speed vacuum types.

C 280 dip stick is on the tranny, under the hood in the c36
C280 has a solonoid c36 doesn't, and the torque converter is different as well

Wow that sucks. It does support the articles written on the C36 during it's introduction regarding the transmission being uprated to support the additional horsepower.
