I was playing around today and changed around my intake setup to one that is more....Cold. I used the bottom portion of the C36 airbox which has the snorkel on the bottom the C280 boxes don't have, and attached the front scoop that goes to the grill. I also drilled out the blocking plate on the grill for more fresh air. Surprisingly a tad louder than the old intake and definitely louder than stock. Response is also better than my old CAI. Cold air will do that. I like the look of it as well.

is that 3.6 thing the same as the one on a 280 but it just says 3.6 on it?

No the 3.6 air cross over intake is bigger then the c280 intake. Now the question is does a 3.6 cross over intake fit an 2.8. on the right side there is a little hole that something goes in and the 2.8 doesn't have that

It does have it because I have the 2.8 with the little sensor thing that connects to it, the mag and everything else fits fine

that hole is for the older cars intake air temp sensor. the '97 had the IAT built into the MAF so its blocked off. and yes the crossover pipe is larger and would fit a C280...that is if you could find one. the stock airbox is also different, AMG modified it with a snorkel to go into the bumper for cool air. the intake manifold is also a modified e320 3.2 liter part. Lots of cool little go fast parts to find hidden ;)

So for the 1997 c280's that don't have that air temperature sensor cable how would they bloke that hole. You know just in case I find one;)

uhhh, probably epoxy or some putty like substance, lol. Or just duct tape lol, that fixes everything

the best intake for these is the stock 36 one. then opening the duct that gets air from net to the radiator. using bigger ducting and getting it from somewhere like where the fog lights are

yeah the stock box most likely stays cooler. But its winter here, and it sounds soooo gnarly. :) theres actually a brake duct by the fog light, could probably tap into that somehow.

they changed the design, not sure if its bigger or not. IT must of been more durable or something for them to change it like that...
