Temperature Gauge is Possessed!!Reading Innacurate!

Hello everyone.. I own a 1996 C220 And ive noticed that SOMETIMES when i first start the car in the morning within a min the temperature gauge will go all the way to the top in red and the fans kick on and then will come off and the gauge will come down.. while driving the fans will come on and the gauge will act funny again. again only sometimes. ITS NOT OVERHEATING though.. The thermostat was recently replaced.. anyone know what the problem could be?

Significant amount of heat can build up behind the instrument cluster. Remove the cluster and check the wiring insulation, then work your way towards into the engine bay and to the thermostat.

you have aire in your cooling system have it fixed asap. when they changed ur thermostate they didnt bleed for air or didnt do it properly .
