I have a problem with my lower radiator hose getting sliced open near the serpentine belt. The cuts are perfectly straight edged, and they occur near the serpentine belt EVERY time so I have an idea of what may be causing the problem... does anyone have any insight as to how I should fix this problem? Luckily the lower radiator hose is cheap and a DIY job. The only really annoying part is buying more MB coolant.
In the meantime, I ordered a new hose and I'm going to fab up an aluminum shield for the bottom of the hose to keep it from getting cut again.

That is a good fix, but then you may have to worry about the serpintine belt getting worn out by rubbing against the aluminum sheild. You may want to look into why they are rubbing in the first place....bent radiator bottom bracket? misaligined radiator core support? something has to be off for it to rub....it is not normal for the belt to rub holes in the hose.....just saying....

Could be a serpentine belt tensioner pulley on the way out.
Suggest you check this.

Thanks Joe! Is this a common problem? I still haven't figured out the exact issue but I'm away at school so I won't be near my car for a while.
