View Full Version : How do I find out if my 202 had fogs at some point?

I've got this strong feeling my car had fogs, because it seems like the selector is in existence for foglights on the headlight switch. There's these big gaping holes where it looks like fogs were too, and someone maybe at some point before I owned the car yanked them out.

Is there any way to put my hands back there and see if there were some plugs for fogs? and if so what to they look like?

Looking to put in some projector foglights soon.

Thanks.

your fog lights should be built into your headlamp assembly. The non-amg W202's never had fog lights standard in the bumpers.

Okay, then second question:

If I wanted to get a set of OEM style fogs that fit into the stock bumper, how would I go about getting them to work with the low beams through the interior selector switch and is there a OEM-style wiring harness for fog cars I can either get from a junkyard or eBay so I can tap them into my stock non-fog harness? If not, where would I have to tap into on my stock harness to make this possible?

Fogs do not fit W202 bumpers unless you retrofit a pair or buy an AMG bumper because only the c36 AMG and c43 AMG came with OEM bumper fog lights. all others have the fog light function built into the headlight assembly as stated above.

That's crazy. I agree with you of course, but I swear on my stock bumper it looks like two were either supposed to be there or would just bolt right in...

Weird.

You could purchase some small aftermarket fog lights, jerry rig them into the front spoiler vents and I believe, wire them into the existing fog light connection in the headlight assembly.

the thing is that they need to be very tastefully done like in the picture above or else they will look out of place with our front bumpers.

Oohhhhhhhh.....THAT'S what they are.....I was wondering what those ducts in front of the brake rotors were when I took my stock wheels off...

Golden, I might just like to do that...but on our cars is a big important thing to have airflow from the front bumper going to our brakes? I can't imagine under daily driving it's hugely necessary...

Also, where did you get that pic? Those look like they fit great.

is your car the facelift ? or pre facelift? ive seen these fogs fitted on numerous face lifted W202's yet to see anyone with a pre face lift do this. I have been tempted many times to. I just havent gotten around to pulling the trigger on the mod just yet. Got a few other projects i want to have finished first before hand. As they are a tad larger and a bit more time consuming. I will however eventually get around to trying these out on a pre facelift .

Its not pre facelift but they have to make some for some type of car that would work. I havent really looked into the front bumper of a pre facelift too much but theres gotta be somethin close

standard design front bumpers for w202 never had any foglights.
these bumpers must have the ugliest design I've ever seen on an MB car.

^^haha im not gonna lie, i feel like that at times

but those mustang fogs look good on there. I already have yellow fogs in the headlight housing, i wonder if it would look weird if i put yellow on the bumper fogs too if i decided to go with those mustang fogs. or just go HID 6k just like my headlights

I've fitted mustang fogs on my face-lifted 202 back in 2010, the problem was that I kept cracking them because of rock chips. I'll do a write up on the mustang fogs, you just need to go to the junk yard, find the connectors, and wire them to the head light fogs. Right now I have some LEDs but since I don't drive the car much anymore I'll be installing the Mustang fogs again.
