Hey all:

Is there a stock piece like this one (red cover on Luwin's car, see below)?

I know jnolte had one on his C36, and I wanted to see if this will fit on my car too.

Thanks

Yes - you can get the part number and order it from your dealer -

Too bad I had sold mine and shipped it out, or else I could have gotten the part # off the underside of it. - maybe someone else can help?

Luwin-

your car was post-97, right? was it a direct fit, or did you have to mod it in?

I have that red cover on Luwin's car but in stock black, the part number on the back is (202 835 00 09) that number comes from my 94 280. their was another # on the back as well but i believe that the # starting with 202 is correct. But just in case the other is # (600935) I have no clue what it could be. Hope this helps.

Direct fit - just pull up the rubber molding, put piece in, and put back the molding to hold it in there. It ain't going nowhere. :D

Is that cover on the right side of the engine original? Looks like an intake-cover on a CDI :p

greetingz,

I went to the dealer showroom, opened up the hood of an R170 C230k, and yanked off the covers to get the part numbers. Salespeople thought I was insane.

That is correct, and I had some fun hacking to make it fit. :D

PN 202 835 00 09 was that for the red one or stock black? and you mean the left red cover that says kleeman right, PN 202 835 00 09 is for that cover all red?

It is for the cover on the left, but it is stock black. Luwin had it painted and such.

If anyone's interested in the SLK engine covers, I bought some at the same time as Luwin (but never actually got around to fitting them ;) ).

It comes in two pieces that slot together.

A1110100267 : COVER PLATE : EUR 25.15
A1110100867 : COVER PLATE : EUR 25.15

Here are the clips on the underside, you might need to remove at least one of these and also possibly a whole leg. Might write this up at some point if I can be bothered to fit them :)

When fitted the cover basically hides a big ol' ugly pile of cables and engine things :)

I just shaved off all the handles/clips and ended up making my own clip and also held it in place with some zipties . . .
