I know that I can either paint it or buy the sport package trim from the dealer, but I want to know what way is the best way to go. Anyone have a suggestion or maybe a story on what they did to get rid of that nasty grey strip on the elegance models?

Also, almost forgot, if I was to paint the trim what would I do about the crome part that goes around the car? I dont want that either....

Its cheaper and easier to get them painted. SPort siding and bumpers are like 900 from the dealership. Theres plastic clips that can break easy if you arnt carefull. i would suggest a body shop to do it for you.

ALso if you SEARCH you will find lots on this topic!!!

This time around I used the search function, but I came up with topics that tend to get off topic before anyone says which way is the best way to go.

What about the crome part though? Isn't that part hard to paint?

How much would it cost to paint everything?

I think your local body shop will know.

This is what you do.

Get in car.

Start car.

Drive to local body shop

ASk this question "how much would it be to paint this ugly stip around my c-class?"

Wait for answer

Decide if its in your budget.

(or you can call)

(or do it yourself)

I'm with c230kompresssed on this one... leave it! Nothing more stunning than a dark Benz with chrome. But hey, I guess I'm in the minority here, chrome is ghey and all of that. :p

Now honestly... how could you destroy such elegance? (pun intended)

Just leave it as is. A black color car with chrome strip around it make the car stands out. Believed me anothing would go wrong and no cost for you. Only thing is you gotta buy everyone a popcycle. :p  :D

u dont need to take the pieces out.... cant u just put masking tape over the bits u dont want to paint and then paint the rest?.. if i were to do it on my own, what do i have to do? sand it and paint it? or prime it after sanding it?
how do i get that glossy finish?
will it eventually peel off?
