Guys,

Can anybody advise me on, what actual parameters are usually changed when a remap is carried on a C230K?

Cheers.

Boost, timing, ect. Usually how forced induction cars are tuned..

So, S/charger clutch actuation rather than boost control? What about the VVT?

VVT is either retarded or advanced no in between.. I guess they could change when it happens in the rpm range..

usually what gets changed is the fuel map and ignition timing.

boost isn't changed by the ecu, at least not like on a turbo car.

i'd leave the supercharger kick in alone, to retain some form of peak hour fuel efficiency.

So you'll typically have a fuel table with MAP or MAF on the vertical with RPM alone base. (you may already know this, just covering all bases) and i think the max MAF will be predetermined. I read in the other thread that you said it was around 1.2 bar (keeping in mind that its measuring flow not pressure so what ever 1.2 bar equates to in flow on this intake) so to go over that you'll either need a piggy back or stand alone

Good stuff Dearlove, and please always presume I know nothing that way there's less chance of me getting confused - I can get confused easy! ;)

as dearlove said, fueling and timing gets changed...which on its own can be very rewarding....my car needs this badly and i will only install a piggyback once i get the acquired boost(1bar)...but an addition of NF Ultra into 40 litres of fuel yielded serious performance out of my car showing what optimum timing can do for the car. also, i'm pretty sure that MB were very conservative when it came to timing on these "old school" engines, so optimisation of these parameters is gonna be very rewarding indeed. also, the changing of the SC clutch engagement will depend on your use of the car...whether its a daily or a weekend toy.

I was over at the Remap shop on Saturday discussing remapping my car. The figures quoted were 27hp and 45lb ft torque increase on a standard engine. It seems like a great way to go, especially from a value for money aspect. At that rate I don't think I'd bother with a modified S/charger pulley.

Views?

um, how did they come up with those numbers.... seems like they pulled it out of their arse to me

Ah, Dearlove you're not the only one thinking that. Now the shop has assured me those figures are correct but really the only way of me proving it is By two rolling road sessions - before & after. Needless to say the Remap shop has no RR. Now, if a remap could produce half those increases I'd happy. Do you think 14hp & 22lb ft would be possible?

lol, what the hell is this!
i think 14 hp is easily doable, i'd do the pulley and then get a remap

I've been searching around on the web seeing who's offering what when it comes to remapping the Kompressor. I've been quoted power increases from 15bhp to 39bhp (yes, you read that right 39BHP!) with corresponding torque increases. Who to believe, who to trust? It seems as bad as some of those guys with rolling roads that offer a 'tune up' and will produce a final BHP figure in excess of your greatest expectations.

I am committed to getting the remap done within the next two weeks, so I've decided to go back to the shop where I got my exhaust repaired & modded. They offer 27BHP & 60NM from their remap. Now, I've my doubts about these figures and will never know the truth as there will be no RR session before & after. Seat of the pants, will give me some idea but I'm not good enough to know if the car has 15 or 30BHP more and I presume that the throttle (gas) pedal will feel more responsive regardless of what increase they actually achieve.

Anyway, fingers crossed I get 15BHP+.

do you have a 1/4 near you? go down do some runs before and after

Sadly I don't. But I do have one or two other ways I can test it, a bit crude but would give a fair indication if there's any real improvement in times after the remap.
