Hey guys,

I'm having a hard time deciding if I should get a magnaflow muffler or if I should just get the C36 AMG exhaust tips professionally welded on. I hate the stock tips that slant downwards and want to give it more of an aggressive look, but at the same time I do not want to get any annoying drones, noises, etc from putting a muffler on. What do you guys think as I want this to be more of a cosmetic modification?

I just ordered the Magnaflow 14833 for 98 C230. $180 for muffler with tips. Can`t go wrong

Why not just install a C36 muffler? Unless you already have the tips you will likely have to buy a whole muffler anyway. The C36 had the squared off tips and I have yet to see them available separate from the muffler. I was in the same camp and couldn't stand the turned down tips. I went with the C36 exhaust from the cat-back on my C280 and it was a simple bolt on....everything lined up and it mated to the catalytic converter perfectly. The C36 cleared my pre-update bumper and no trimming was required.

mbsickness I found some C36 AMG tips on ebay for $140 someone must've cut them off a C36 muffler, but I understand what you're saying it would make more sense but does anyone knows what a C36 muffler setup would sound like on a C230K. And also mbsickness do you have any more pictures that show how the muffler looks from a side view and so on?

I am debating ordering one of these Roush Mustang rear bumper molded tips and trying to incorporate it into my Brabus rear bumper. I would love to get a flush molded exhaust tip look to the rear of the car rather than a few pipes just hanging there.

I'll see what pictures I have. I ended up going with a C36 body kit so the pipes sit nice and flush.

Here's an old video of my C230K when I first got it. I put the Magnaflow 14833.

I am running the same Magnaflow as C43inNC and I love the sound it gives off. Not too loud an not too quiet. You will never get that true AMG sound unless you drive an AMG...

Not at all it sounds great! No complaints on my end. I know there is some more guys out there running the same set-up and some people do a resonator delete but I kept it simple and just replaced the old crappy muffler.

Here are some random pictures where you can see the tips against the pre-update bumper. It does stick out a little but not past the end of the bumper
