12.5-13" center spindle to fenderlip height regardless of tire/wheel diameter used.

I think I'll use the above as the first target. Mine are currently at 13.75'' and that's with Merc Sport springs! So, a bit of drop to go.

Quick question. I (and countless others) have noticed an uneven height in our cars. From my estimation, my driver's side rear sits about 5mm lower than my right rear. Would there be any negative effects if I were to use a larger spring pad to balance out the stance? So, if I am using #1 pads, maybe go #2 and #1?

Thoughts? Also, what reason would cause this occurence? Like I said many Members have experienced this leveling, modified and stock.

This is very interesting. I went right out and measured my fender lip height. 26" on the nose. Mine is a 1996 C280 - very low mileage (31k). To tighten it up a bit, I put on KYB Gas-a-just shocks, changed tires on the original wheels to Cooper CS4 205 x 60 15, and just changed the standard sway bar for one from a C280 Sport. Here in New York where I drive the roads are very bad. Lots of ruts, potholes, irregularities, you name it, we have it in terms of road flaws. I need a fair amount of rubber on my wheels for a decent quality ride. I'm pretty well done for the moment. Car rides nicely and holds the road pretty well for essentially a stock set-up. And I really can't afford to do much more anyhow. Anyone have any comments on the KYB gas-a-just Shocks and the Cooper tires ?

REAR TOE LINKS (aftermarket build info):

Stock rear toe links are 9 5/8" long. Lowering a car will require them to be a little longer so if we use a minimum length of 9" and a max of 10.5" then we should be good.

Chassis mount and hub mount rodends we can use 5/8" shanks and 1/2" bore rod ends both left hand and right hand.
QA1 part # HML8-10T- quantity:2 ($23.93 each)
QA1 part # HMR8-10T- quantity:2 ($23.93 each)
http://www.qa1.net/qa1_motorsports/circle-track/rod-ends/3-piece/hm-t-series-alloy-steel.html

The chassis mount is 1 3/4" wide and the rod end is .625" wide. We need two 1/2" wide spacers on each side per mount pkus two 1/16" fender washers inside to hold it all inside the elongated cam holes.

QA1 spacer part # SG88 - quantity:4 ($3.95 each) Note: you need two on each inside mount only, Nothing needed on the hub/wheel mount side of the link arms.
http://www.qa1.net/qa1_motorsports/circle-track/rod-end-accessories/spacers/spacers.html

factory bolt and outside cam washers will still work.
Need to find fender washers with 1/2" bore and 1/16" thick with aprox 1.25"-1.5" diamter (local industrial hardware stores will have these)

Now the total link minimum length can be 9". Each rodend is 1" long (with shank inserted into link arm) so thats 9" minus 2"= 7" long link arms with 5/8" bore
Coleman EZ-just tierods item # 19006 Quantity:2 ($20.25 each)
http://www.colemanracing.com/Tie-Rod-EZ-Just-58-P3758.aspx

Then simply and carefully freehand drill and 1/2" bore into the factory tapered tierod bore and insert a grade 8 bolt aprox 2-2.5"x 1/2" with washers and locknut (best to drill wire tie these with safety wire) Again- all of this can be found at the local industrial hardware store for under $20 including the fender washers needed in above listing.(edit to add- you could also use 1/2" castle nuts and drill the bolt then use a cotter pin to secure it from coming apart for safety)

All of this totals about $172 and is bulletproof and easy to adjust.

checked Coleman's website

there are 2 different sleeve sizes.
does it matter which one I get, are these sleeves long enuff for my car when it's being lowered?
19006 Tie Rod-EZ-Just-5/8"X7" Long $20.25

19007 Tie Rod-EZ-Just-5/8"X7 1/2" Long $20.30
http://www.colemanracing.com/Tie-Rod-EZ-Just-58-P3758.aspx

Are clamps included for each sleeve?
Or are they purchased separately?
18750 Clamp-5/8" Ez-Just Tie Rod $8.40

regarding rod ends
getting these if they are among the strongest rod ends?
I hope they would last the lifespan of my car?

QA1 Part # HMR12HT right hand threads----need 2...$46.49 each
QA1 part # HML12HT left hand threads------need 2...$46.49 each
http://www.qa1.net/qa1_motorsports/c...loy-steel.html

I'm not familiar with " inch measure sizes?
sleeve and rod ends should they all have 5/8-18 thread size?
rode ends HML12HT use 3/4-16 size, I guess these won't fit Coleman sleeve 5/8-18 thread size?
I don't want to buy the wrong parts and having to return them.

thanks for the input vetruck

I found my new factory toe in arms among my other parts which I will fit soon to my car.
I measured the length of the arm, it's 37 cm long.
I also measured diameter boltholes of fitted bushings, boltholes are 11.95mm, I assume this is an M12 bolt fitted?

I also found my new factory bolts, I measured the diameter, it's 11.85mm must be an M12 bolt?

i never touch my suspension on my car.
it's my mechanic installing everything for me.

i can only do small things that don't require special tools or special skills, i only do basic wrenching on my car
i measured the first arm?
this is 37 centimeters long from end to end

second arm named tie rod is 27 centimeters long approx 10.7" long

Goodbye ya old codger. Won't miss your stupid nonsense posts or the brags about working with NASCAR. Fact is, if you did anything for NASCAR, you'd be into real racing not a coned off parking lot with a old pile of shit American car that has no business attempting to turn with a solid axle and technology from a Briggs and Stratton motor!

No more threads about bragging on being a driving instructor or fighter jet maneuvers, or any other pages full of talk about a 94' C220 that you've done nothing to and claim its an F1 car.

Come out on a real track, and bring a car u actually own. Then talk to me u old hag.

And as for not doing anything to my F1 4 banger 202...you mean the little euro luxury box piece of crap I bought for my wife? Well I spent a lot of dollars and labor- not some shop- completely modifying the suspension on this car and it's finished. And yes it will turn vircles on a C63 AMG on a skid pad. Just a little preview to the modifications a lot of you whiney asswipes on here missed out on with tech. Its all you'll ever see.

Your loss.
You can erase me form this site- don't know why I keep geting emails from it when someone posts.2158

Please hire a shrink, you miserable old fool, you need one. Have your AARP membership provide you a discount.

Thats all you got is to try and use age against someone 10 years older than you. You bring no tech to this board, you probably at best did another taillight upgrade this year and jacked off to if, and on the best day of your entire pathetic life you would never hold a candle to what I accomplish every day.

By the way- Jeff says hi. I was with him last night. Who;s the fool? Remo, grow the fuck up you jealous little bastard with nothing to contribute to this world.2161
ps- Jeff has grey hair and I don't- maybe he should join AARP Remo? Tell me what you think bud?

RemoLexi

Tail light mods? You must need your reading glasses because I clearly am not the one doing tail light mods.

And may I ask what tech do you bring to this board? I bet you don't even work on your own car! What's there to be jealous of? I think all those left turns got your head messed up. I don't even know who 'Jeff' is btw nor do I care.

Just leave the forum like you said you would. I don't see you contributing anything here but attempt to belittle other members, and don't try to pass off your replica bullshit copy of KMAC camber/castor correction bushings, that's been out long before you could have ever afforded that C220 you blessed your wife with.

Vetruck
05-24-2014, 09:29 AM
Am I the only one seeing a trend of me posting proof and you have nothing to contribute except a stock c36 you put a steering wheel, taillights, and painted a few interior goodiies and are now a wonderful mechanic taking it all apart to sell pieces to scrub together to build a POS VW TDI? Are you serious idoit? You see bud, the 202 I bought was merely a commuter for the wife to grocery get. THe car looks nice, but was the worse handling POS I have ever driven. Why you guys like these cars for yourself I have no clue. These cars suck. It took alot for me to fix it to handle well- 3x what I paid for it, but the wife wanted a Mercedes. I still can;t stand driving the POS. But hey, Its your dream car so keep jackinmg off to the crashed one in your garage. And good luck with that volkswagon LMAO

Byt he way Remo, you are posting on MY thread. the thread called Ultimate suspension Mods that the forum moderator decided to make a sticky...remember? and then because YOU disrepected me I pulled down all info from this site so anyone coming into here can seek only your pathetic help, not mine.

Yea I'm sure there's a line of members just dying to sign up to read your incompetent useless information and complete thievery of suspension ideas that have been out long before.

You are an idiot, read that thread a little better. I sold that car, yes I drive a VW, but my other VW will lap your pathetic ass corvair or whatever you antique it is that doesn't run for over 10 years.

Here's my other VW by the way,

This is fun.

You may think so but only detracts from the forum. Being candid you past posts were very interesting it's just a shame you get all hot headed along with having an unwarranted ego and self importance. Also too, you lack empty with fellow forum members and clearly your arrogance takes away from the technical information you posted in the past. At the end of the day the only real loser is you. Of course you could consider engaging with the forum again & while doing so make allowances that the majority are just ordinary guys like myself trying to improve their W202, which by your own admission needs improving.
