Hey guys,

I need a quick question answered, with C43 euro suspension with #1 pads could you run 18x9 ET30 255/35 rear without any rub issues what so ever?

How much space do you currently have on your standard E55 18x9 255/35 et35 rear?, do you find yourself thinking it could have sat out another 5mm?

Much thanks,
Paul

Are your 245's slightly stretched?

I'm on stock Euro springs with #1 pads and hoping to keep that setup!. I have the option to run 18x9 ET30 or ET35 rear but need to make sure I can run the 255/35 without too much issue.

And you are not rubbing with 10's? I have 18x9.5's with 245's on there and I have little room for error. You must have rolled fenders or hammered the inner fender walls. or you are rubbing?

Nope. No rubbing, no rolled fenders, and no hammered inner fender walls.

I have no explanation for this.

Is your tires running up inside the fender lip, or is the car high enough that the tire never goes completely into the fender cavity? I have about 3/16" clearance on the backside and the tire rides up into behind the fender lip with less than a fingers clearance. My ride height on the rear is 24 1/2" right now at static fender lip ride height (measured from the ground to the bottom of the rear fender lip arch.) There is no way a 10" wheel would clear on my car.

Never mind- when I magnify the picture of your car I can see your front tires are sticking out and the car is not that low. If you lowered it more you would rub. You could not go lowered spring and tuck those tires. I see Pagz is asking about stock springs with #1 spring pads, not lowered springs with the #1's/ I have lowered springs and #1's with 245 rears and they BARELY fit without rubbing- even on high lateral strain they have not touched which I am amazed of.

I see. I've always assumed it was stock height, which is lower than a standard w202 but with much stiffer shocks. It's low enough as-is with these rims, I really enjoy the look:

Here's my 94 220 on 18x8.5 fronts and 18x9.5 rears (215/40-18 front tires, 245/35-18 rear tires) sitting on H&R lowered springs with #1 pads. This picture was bfore I test drove the front and it settled about a 1/2" more. Front fender lip is 25 1/16". rear fender lip is 24 1/2" fender lip on 24.7" tall tires- The rear is tucked at static, the fronts tuck with suspension travel and do NOT hit the fenders- I do NOT have rolled fenders.1469

EDIT to add info- I have hammered on this suspension now putting it through its test rigors. Hard high speed corners, hitting dips in road at good pace, etc, absolutely no rubbing anywhere except when I turn the wheel full lock to the left and back out of the garage= it will rubb on the front inner center of the plastic liner at about 30* turn angle(about a 1/8 steering wheel turn from full lock- and only when traveling backwards. forward does not do it.)

I definately could NOT fit 255/35-18s- they would definately rub.

Good Info Thanks guys!

Sulaco,I enjoy stock height as well, I find it more enjoyable in the corners than my old lowered setup. Are you sure those are ET25?,from the pics they look more ET35+ ?Could just be the photo angle though. I once ran 19x9.5 ET29 rear but had the guard rolled slightly and it rubbed on the bumper meets fender area, however this was Eibach Pro's with #1 pads and some camber correction. Later ran with 17x9 ET35 255/35 on this suspension with no rubbing at all.

Vetruck, you've achieved a very clean ride height there I really like the stance!,no doubt all the suspension work has payed off?. The amg variants do have the guards rolled front and rear and it makes a fair amount more room,I found these are much better formed vs when you use a roller on the hub as tends to pull in the area's where the bumpers meet!.

From this I'm fairly confident I will go with 18x9 ET30 255/35 on stock suspension.

Interesting info. When you say "guards" are you speaking of the rolled section on urethane into the fenderwheel from the bumper? I outlined it in blue in an attachment
1470

Itf that is so mine do not have an issue there. Where I have issues being close is rigth at the back side of the grey side trim molding just above the bumper. I outlined that in red in the pic. That is reused on my Brabus kit I will install next.

I'm certain they are 25. I took a picture of the inside of the rim, ET is a clear 25.

Rears on mine are 18x9.5 ET31, 255/35/18 tires, lowered on Eibach sports with #1 pads. It'll only rub on that plastic trim piece in front of the wheel well when I have +3 passengers in the back with only my subwoofer box in the trunk or if I have a set of 5 wheels and tires in the back!

Vetruck,
By Guards I mean the metal part of the wheel well, would you call it fender? from you description Its sounds like the usual rub area where the bumper meets the guard, on my last 202 I had to trim metal in that area to avoid trouble, the bumper was fine however but it would depend on what bumper you are running.

Sulaco,thanks!

MikeD,your specs reinforce I should be able to run stock suspension easy on 255/35/18 ET30, thanks!.
