Is a bad engine worth anything more than scrap value?

Replacing the engine in a C280 which still runs but has a rod knock. Is it worth advertising it to sell or should I take it to the scrap yard. It has 200K but the head seems to be OK.

200K engine with a rod knock sounds like a boat anchor to me. If advertising is free list it....you never know.

The head my be worth something to the right buyer, port and polish ect options, I'm with you- it's difficult to toss something so worthless yet so cool. Make a coffee table out of it lol ?

Out of curiosity would you tell us how expensive the replacement engine is, and how much you are being charged to put it in?

I bought a 63,000 mile drivable 1994 C280 at a salvage auction for $600 plus fees and transportation or about $1000 total. Plan to put it in myself. Will part out the rest. Would have listed it here in the classified but can't because of the minimum post requirement so I'll put it on Ebay and some other forums.
