98 C280 Fan Clutch 112 engine

Left or right hand thread on coupling nut ?

I am getting old! have had my fan clutch off twice before once to replace the harmonic balancer and once for a water pump replacement.

Currently need to do the crank seal. Memory says this nut is LH thread but it hasn't broken loose with any reasonable amount of torque. My Bentley manual does not state a thread direction for the 112 engine and my current computer won't read my MB disc.

Need to be sure of the type thread before applying overwhelming force!

Counter clockwise to break loose.

BMW have reverse thread,

If ever unsure, the direction of rotation is the same direction to break it loose, since your standing in front of and not at the firewall!
