Hey guys i got a 96/97 M104 c280 with a tranny thats leaking after an incompetent indie shop did a crap job at tranny oil change, i guess the saying "if you want it done right, do it your self" hit close to home. Now im going to go and get proper fluid from MB, and not the castrol BS that the MB indie shop tried to sneak in and drain the Torque converter with the oil and re-fill it.
quick question. is there a special way to service these trannies? or is the good ole fashioned - through the dip stick, the way to go ?

many thanks in advance

Drop the oil pan (very easy)

Change the filter & drain the tq.conv.

Fill through dipstick tube & check after warmed up @ idle.

Though you said '96/97', that's the year split, so totally different trans if yours is a 97'.

That would be the easier one because it actually had a dipstick.

The 97' had a dipstick tube, but required a special tool to check the level (dipstick)
