I know I should use the merc specific but no job atm to afford 15$ a quart but essentially is it dex4?
Will dex 3 work ? Got a filter /gasket kit at autowhorefor 20$
I don't need preached to use merc specific I know this but can I use a alternative temporary ?
It's because it came to my attention my gasket leakes so I'm changing it I have 5ltr of dex3 out of the 7 needed

Remolexi is not kidding.
Watch this series of videos. Many late 90's Mercedes' can be rescued from the "dead transmission" diagnosis

I'll check the WIS list for you tonight, Shell 134 and FUCHS 4134 are on there for sure, I used FUCHS.
Edit- sorry just realized you have already changed it.

But yes I will change them sulaco I actually noticed the where the shield is on the passenger side is that component needs a new o-ring
And the gasket needed changed so I'll have to fix that n get a new bord in there on my next change but sofar 170 miles and no issues just smooth shifts like it's new

Idk why you think I'm such an asshole,
Here's the 13-pin connector, I literally do these at least 1 per week and took photos for you today.

It has 2-O rings and costs $13 I believe. Replace the whole thing, they typically leak every 30-60k miles. If not leaking EXTERNALLY, it can leak internally and wires are like straws, you will have 1/2qt. ATF in your passenger floor boards and whipe out your transmission module. Bad day.

Turn the white plastic lock band counterclockwise about 45degrees until the wire harnes connector slides out. Install in reverse order.
Comes with a small 7mm bolt, make sure you are extremely careful when replacing this, and not to strip the threads or over tighten. It plugs directly to the conductor plate and replacing the conductor plate means removing the valve body.

Also take note of the approximate depth of the 13-pin connector before you remove it, it will give you an idea that the new one is installed properly, as well as make sure it's aligned. Only fits one way.

If it's shifting fine, don't bother with the conductor plate yet. Only bother with that one your transmission acts up. Remo is suggesting the easy part that most commonly fails and is preventable maintenance. And you've already spotted fluid there, so he's spot on.

There is a Chinese knock-off brands brand called APA/URO to stay the hell away from. Best bet is get one from the dealer, should be $12 or so but not more.
You will lose about a quart of ATF in the replacement process.

Sorry to answer your question, no you don't need to drain or drop the pan. But like I said you will lose about a quart of ATF.

well I was just gonna undo my pan screw and let it fall out into a clean tupaware bucket so it wouldn't make a big mess in the prossess XD
I try to be a clean mechanic my super greas monkey days are over haha but thank you for the info

Just be gentle with the 13-pin connector, it's screws into the conductor plate and those aren't cheap and replacing it means removing the valve body.

my O-rings in my kit were more round than the benz ones
was a royal pain to get it back on
but with a flat hammer and a mallet and gentle taps she went in hope I never have to touch it agen haha
now I just need new lower boots and o2s

update I think I used the wrong O-rings she didn't leak for a while but I think it shook loose so im probably going to get a new one regardless but can anyone tell me the o-ring part number so I can switch them over to proper size
I have 3 different boxed of O-rings lol metric standard and something els XD
remo could you get me that part #_# pweas :3
Incorrect o-rings could put excessive stress on the conductor plate.
The genuine part is cheap and the best option, just call your local and quote your vin.
If I were to do mine again I would drop a litre from the drain plug before changing so the conductor plate doesnt fill up on removal. how do you clean the oil out before inserting the pilot bush?....

I use maf cleaner honestly (first air gun the hell around it to clear dirt then maf it for oils the air it agen ) I put the right vague sizes in but not the right style I beleave there flat headed aren't they ? I put round in
I wasnt so sure about spraying anything in there as it all runs straight into the trans fluid?,I guess not an issue if you have the fluids out.

Yea I can get your the part number to the plastic plug adaptor which comes with new O-rings but I never replace just the o-rings...
It's important to get the OE one, the URO brand Chinese shit will leak or not fit or cause you to break the conductor plate (then your fuqed)
And yes, spray them out with parts clean, blow out with air. Parts cleaner won't go up the wires that far if you blow out with compressed air.
