hi there
one of my biggest dreams came true...to install a comand 2.0 in my non facelift w202
bought a w210 non can bus broken comand 2.0, w210 dash wood trim and w210 dash frame.
i had to cut and join several w210 and w202 parts in order to make this install as clean and oem looking as possible...im pretty pleased with the result
the comand had the cd module ruined...it didnt read cd and the machanism that ejects and retracts the cd was fucked up, but after 10 hours of fiddling with it i managed to make it work like new....also made an aux input on it and made the phone modul work as well...

this is the 90% finished product...if you want i can post some photos of the parts i had to cut/glue

i also installed a wood w220 steering wheel that has wheel buttons(i dont know how theyre called) and i would like to know what cables do i need to connect to in order to make them working :)

Well done!!

AFAIK.. The multifunction steering wheel works via 3 wires to the cluster as it does with the clk,not sure if this is for updated cluster only?.. You would need to install the 5 wire steering angle sensor to get the extra wires. the command then runs over a CAN from the cluster.

Multifunction wheel was to allow control on the cluster as well as features on the stereo, hence why its wired to the cluster.

Did your command come from a pre-update w210?...if so i'm not sure how you would make the steering wheel connect without CAN.

thanks for the support:)
here are the pieces i had to modify
sorry for the orientation of the photos...click on them to see them in the right way

1. cut the brakets that holds the old w202 frame
http://i1373.photobucket.com/albums/ag386/Paunescu_Costin/20140304_113642_zps5f7139d5.jpg (http://s1373.photobucket.com/user/Paunescu_Costin/media/20140304_113642_zps5f7139d5.jpg.html)

2.cut both w202 and w210 frames acoording to the next photo

3. glued sections

4.NOTE: IF YOU HAVE A POST FACELIFT W202 YOU WILL NOT NEED TO CUT THE TOP PART OF THE W210 TRIM.....i had to cut mine in order to install the pre facelift buttons

you will also need to cut the w210 trim on the sides, as the w210 dash is a little bit wider

Another thing to check up on with the multifunction wheel is the horn, because all the functions run over the 3 wire to the cluster, in a car with EIS the cluster has a brn/blk wire to the EIS to activate the horn, in non EIS cars I'm not sure how you would ever get the horn on the multifunction to work without the cluster and non-EIS.

for me it was plug'n'play of course I did some modification to the dash trim and the holder, i put the ac control unit on the bottom too. however I have not completed it, for the past two years actually I have been dealing with other stuff, and this year I'm redoing the interior. Wanting to make it two tone black and cognac color, got huge inspiration from that Brabus G800... lol anyways here's how it looked when i installed it. I have problems with the CD not ejecting sometimes and skipping, however no problem when it goes thru the cd changer. I'm interested in hearing about how did you go with the aux install, is it possible to include a USB and also play videos if it does not have the TV Connects in the back? And about the w210 steering wheel it's a good idea, i'll be changing mine pretty soon since it's wearing off badly and I refuse to put a cover lol. 1981

Seriously considering this!
But I have a small problem with this. My car is a 09.1995. According to the VIN number, it's a 96 model. It also has the facelift buttons, the newer BOSE system etc. But it didn't have the facelift outside.
Also, a 97 cluster plugged straight in.
So, my question is: will the Comand 2.0 plug straight in and work with my BOSE sound and my CD-changer?
If anyone can help me with this, I'll start sourcing the parts needed.

I wouldn't even bother, that system is so old and outdated. Not worth the time and effort

That's true, but trying to keep an OEM+ line with my car, so I'd see that stereo as a potential candidate, since I probably won't find a full Navigation system for a W202 for a reasonable price.

To be honest, I really don't like modern stereos and such in old cars. I like when the interior looks like it's meant to be like this from the dealer, hence the idea of the Comand 2.0. Don't really mind that it's outdated and such, at least it fits the interior.
I'm also looking for a telephone holder to fit my old Nokia 6081 car phone. So yeah, not really looking for anything modern. I'm using the gps on my phone anyways.
The reason I'm looking into this is that my old stereo doesn't play cassette tapes anymore and the volume button doesn't work, not to mention problems with some of the other buttons.
So that's why I'm looking into this old system.

Well, to be honest, I kind of still listen to cassettes, mostly the ones my dad recorded when he was younger.
Does the cd player have the cd changer connections and such?
