Hi guys, i'm looking for my dream w202, c230 kompressor sport with a manual gearbox, so rare i've only ever found 3 in the last 12 months. preferably 1999, 2000. its been like searching for a needle in a haystack! anybody got an idea how many came to the uk?

ok, i found the official build count here http://www.w202-freunde.de/technische-daten-w202/produktionszahlen/ and it says there were 63,595 c230K saloons built, but it doesnt differentiate between left and right-hand models, or transmission type. the manual transmissions are very rare but im trying to research exactly how rare and how many came to the uk.

call up a merc dealership and see how much they would charge to convert one if they cant or wont call up a tranny shop for a quote to convert a a/t to stick

At a very bad guess, 63,000 - 10% to the U.K. market = 6300 @ 20% manuals = 1260 over five years, average 252 per year. If the average is equal over the years, that gives you a choice 504 for the 1999 & 2000 less scraped cars, write off's and cars not for sale. It sure doesn't leave many to choose from! Bide your time and the right car will pop up.

Have a look here:

Edit: Judging by that info it's just 27 that's actually registered and of course the majority will be auto's and some will be estates too.
