Is the only way to remove the front springs on my 1995 c280 using the Mercedes coil compressor? If so where can I rent one?

the only safe way is with the mercedes spring remover. I bough mine on ebay for $180 i dont think you can rent them but see if the dealership might have that option. mercedes springs are in a lot of tension member that we have a cast iron engine. even with the spring compressor is going to be a challenge to remove the front springs. go to youtube and search mercedes spring compressor there are tons of videos of it.

you can take the bolt out of the wishbone and do it from there... but still recommend using a spring compressor for safety reasons...

OR you could just slide a jack under the LCA, Unbolt the LCA, and then let the jack go slowly. Springs fall right out.
I can rent you one, I also have a fender roller for rent.
