Just bought some Mandrus Manheim and got a smoking deal . They have a 235/40/18 on them for the front which were on a 1996 w202 c280 factory height , mine is lowered on H&R spring . Will there be any issuer with the tires? There P zero tires

Mines is lowered on vogtland with an extra coil cut off. I'm running 225/40/18 on an 8.5 and mine clears(barely) when going into driveways.

I have 215's on mine with et30 (18x8.5)fronts and can tell you if I had 225's it will most likely rub it is that close whe the wheels are turned. I am talking inner fender liner touching. They may not rub the fender metal, but I am sure peoples cars are rubbing the inner liners with wider then 215's. I am not as low as several Ive seen here either. I am low, but others are lower. People have to be rubbing when turning at full lock.

with that tire size you will retain the stock tire overall height so you wont have to mod the speedo
now the rims I got didn't tell me the specks as far as dish and offset but I only scrape when I have a fully loaded car if you have stiff springs you will be fine 2305

I do not know if your response was directed to me or the OP- regardless Ill add a bit of advice to everyone reading this thread.

What you really want to consider in a rear tire choice is overall diameter when if come into performance consideration. The AMG's had a 24.6" tall rear tire. Your cars that are standard C220's and C280s came with factory 25" tall tires. The C280s have 2.87 rearend gears, and the C220's had better 3.07 gears because they lacked a little in engine HP obviously. The C220's are about 1/2 sec slower than the C280's stock for stock (C220 lighter, less power, better gearing, but C280 heavier, more power, taller (worse gearing). Now when you compare them to the C43 lets say with a 2.87 rear end ratio and a 5speed gearbox with closer ratios trans- you get a C280 with a taller tire, poorer trans gears and less power and are putting an even taller tire on the car making it worse in accelration.

Now to comapre the C280 with 235's (25.4" tall) to lets say my C220 with 24.7" tall tires and better gearing (both cars started out with 25" tall tires) you just evened the playing field between yours and my car in acceleration. People overlook this all the tire putting larger tires on a car not made for them. Btween the two cars. Your C280 with 235 40's will rotate the rolling revolutions 6 times less then mine will in just a 1/4 mile...it is THAT substantial. I pick up gear with less tire and rev quicker through the gears.

Moral is? you are better off using the smaller diamter tires when it comes to performance- because we do not have much choice in rearend ratio changes.

Everyone wants a faster car- this advice is just a friendly little tip to anyone considering overall tire diameter that does not understand performance considderations and how marraige of parts can help or hurt performance.

it was op but the size he is getting is what I have, I used a online tire calculator when I got mine if he has the stock tire 205/55/16 on his model the 235/40/18 will be the same overall speed thats all..

lol I hate changing tranny gears for the speedo let alone a electronic one haha

logic what is the stock tire size on your (enter model here/year )
