I've checked the fuse, and replaced the bulbs but still no light. I have inspection in 7 days so I will definitely need it fixed. Any ideas?

What year is the car? On the 94-95 cars withe biodegradable harnesses the reverse light/neutral safety switch harness can degrade. In my case I lost the reverse lights.

If you have one check the stop lamp switch on the brake pedal is working as should, should be mounted above the pedal.

These fail all the time on the updated models however these are a slightly different style switch.

I have a 97 C280 and my reverse lights are inoperable as well. Any thoughts?

Sorry disregard my input, thought it was stop lamps:rolleyes:

reverse lights are taken from the gate shifter, could be a failed switch. Or as mentioned a fail harness but imagine this blows fuses??

Problem solved lol. Turns out the shifter was dodgy. Got a replacement unit from the wreckers which solved the problem. However, the new shifter has a certain spot in the reverse channel where it wont trigger the lights. No biggie; looking into tearing up the old one to see what needs to be fixed. Was originally quoted 600 for the job including a 300 part; this was from a specialist. Couldn't justify paying that much lol. The wrecked shifter was only 150 plus tax and a new bushings were only 4 bucks a piece plus tax.
