I know some people are interested in getting an OEM Avantgarde grill, as those replica grills from bekkers/performanceproducts are not of good quality.

Here is a detailed guide, provided by scorchie, who ordered and installed an OEM Avantgarde grill: http://www.blancmange.com/scorchie/MBZ/GRILL/

I have a contact who has a limited supply of these OEM grills for 265.00 USD. e-mail me at exocorp@hotmail.com for more information.

I love my $90 Bekker's grill, it fits like OJ Simpson's glove... I see no reason to buy OEM when Bekker's sell OEM. My Bekker's grill part number is identical to the MB OEM grill part number.

Heres some pics of a replica avantgarde grill for the w202 I got, pretty much the reason why I'm going for OEM.

replica avantgarde grill that I ordered a week ago, there is no box, no manual, no screws, no mounting brackets, just the grill insert.

Here is the inner grill area, bottom left corner, where the serial number and manufactuerer is usually displayed. Hmm, no mercedes logo, it says, "HOLI" instead. The part number thats displayed is indeed infact a mercedes part number, but its not made by mercedes, obviously.

I noticed the fine quality of this grill when I saw how the chrome strips were not aligned correctly to the black inner grill. See how it sticks straight up like that? You can bet its not going to stay in place. I gently touched it and it was wobbly and moving around, most likely after some normal wear and tear you will be forced to super glue this to make it stay.

Aside from all the other previous things, lets see how well this will fit! Examine and take note of the outer area of this grill, the edges look like they were trimmed with a handsaw and broken off to finish the job. The black plastic area has broken off chips and fragments on the edges and in some cases shreds of it are still sticking off from the sides.

Here is another pic of the other side. Judge for yourself if you want to buy this grill for 90 bucks or 109 bucks from bekkers or performance products etc. I sure wouldnt, I sent mine back. OEM is OEM. best quality, nuff said. 265.00 for oem is a hella good deal, considering scorchie and narcie got theirs for alot more. ask them how much they paid for it. or ask your stealership how much it would cost :)

Hey Rincewind, do you have any more close up pics of the OEM cut grill? I have an E class grill I still have to cut so I wanna see exactly how much I have to cut off...

I have strong suspicions about the newer AG grills... It seems like all of us OG that got the grill early (pre-2000) got W210 OEM part numbered grills identical to MB OEM W202 grills. These grills are very much OEM like quality wise and were cut decently and fit properly. All the newer grills being shipped by Bekkers are W140 part numbered grills and are not OEM pieces, and are of inferior cut quality. Just a hunch, going by what ricewind and others have posted...
