hi there fellow 202 lovers. i am currently running a 1999 230 kompressor as a track car. i have done the following mods to it.
stripped out interior down to shell. carpets,soundproofing,sunroof...everything is out. im not sure what the car weighs though..any advice on that?
i have got the pulley upgrade but am not sure what power it is making. it is definately making more though.
all standard suspension. i have cut the coil springs by one and a half coils which sat the car down nicely and gave it a good negative camber.
aircon is off.
i use 15 inch alloys with bridgestone 205 semi slicks.
i have fitted thicker brake disks for better braking. not wider , as the 15 inch mag rims will not allow for that. i also have racing break fluid(R1000 for 1 litre)...very good stuff.
catalyst has been taken off and runs with 2 freeflow exhausts.

basically the car does really well on track but as always i would like it to do just a little bit better hahaha...
any ideas on low cost mods i can do to make this car perform better?
polyurethane bushes on suspension? is it worth getting 6 speed box from w203? get tuning done to allow more fuel as i have upped the boost on the charger? suspension?
thank you for any help it is much appreciated cheers.
i am from from South Africa btw.

ANy pics of the car? Welcome aboard Club202

Best advice I can give first off is buy good quality dampers. I highly suggest Koni Yellows. Best money you can spend on the suspension is controlling the chassis weight and wheel contact with the road. Bushings help as well, but shock dampers are first and for most the most important factor. Spare no expense here. Better to buy $400 on shocks then to buy cheap shocks at $200 and spend $200 on other suspension parts.

Fit NGK BKR7E plugs, a 4.0 Bar F/P/R, drill the air filter housing, remove the steel mesh/gauze from the throttle body seal (leaving the mesh ring in place) and relocate the MAF closer to the throttle body. All cheap. And if funds allow at sometime get a Remap carried out. With that lot and the larger crank pulley along with your exhaust system you should have an honest 220bhp/250 ft lb. Also look out for 16x7 W208 CLK/R170 SLK ''Toliman'' forged alloys, only weigh in at 6.2kg/13.6lb each.

Meant to say consider fitting a Boost gauge (cheap) and AFR gauge (expensive) or at a minimum get the AFR's checked. And it might be better or just as good and cheaper to fit a lower ratio diff rather than fitting a six speed box for track work?

thanks alot for the replies guys. i have fitted a lower ratio diff and welded it up to lock it. what is the AFR? today i did quite well on the track today. ill get hold of the results and post them up one of these days. i for some reason cant upload pics of my car though. i do think suspension is the next step for this car.

AFR = Air fuel ratio.

Looking at the photos of the interior and taking into account the sunroof assembly is removed along with a lighter exhaust system, I'd have a guess that your car has lost 130+KG/290lb? And another 20kg if the A/C is removed. So,guessing again you car as standard was about 1390kg with a 1/4 tank of fuel. Now, 1260kg? If so that one hell of a weight reduction. Have you weighed it before and after?

Getting it down to 1100Kg I reckon will take some amount of work. It would be interesting to see what it actually weighs now.

howzit Abbas yes i have haha very helpful here:) . i would like to get down to a 1:28 . i would then be on par with a friend of mine who bought a half million rand VW. he runs on slicks aswell and says the car has 280-300 kw . Would be quite funny haha. and then once im at 1:28 i would probably like to go "just a little bit faster" :) haha...
