What are the most common repairs on a W202? I just bought a '00 C230K and would like to know the most common maintenance problems or repairs. The car is shaking when idling still at a red light (gear on drive). If I put the car in park it stops shaking. How do I fix this shaking problem?!?

I just want to know what the main problems on this model are and inspect those problems; like a list of what I should watch out for. Help would be appreciated so others can be informed

Welcome to the 202 family. Most likely your engine mounts are shot. Bit off a hassle to crack the 16mm bolt on the supercharger side but doable. I cut a 16 mm spanner and used the ring side.

Things to look over:

suspension bushings
engine mount
tranny mount
bad wiring
coil packs
spark plugs
maf sensor
air intake box

Basically, look over things that would generally wear out on a 15yo car.

Lastly the silver piece that sits in between the intake and s.c 3 pieces that have a hole thru them make shure the bolt is still there mine vibrated bad , the s.c clutch has all 3 rivets still mine was missing 2 of em
Mine is now quite on a cold start went away after it was warmed up now just quiet altogether

Thanks so much guys, I appreciate the fast replies. I'm surprised to see such an active community for an infrequent car on the road. I do not own a ramp and some advanced tools so for a couple of these things I will have to take it to an import (ASE certified) shop.

That's what I thought. I will see if I can repair this myself and order the parts.

I do hear the engine mounts quite often on this forum so this is a must. The steering wheel on this C230K has too much free-play and is kind of imprecise, so from what your saying I will check the bushings. This car is from Arizona (pure-arid desert weather) so a lot of things are dry, cracked and dusty.

Every car made has a weakness in terms of repairs. Fiat, Chrysler, Ford, BMW, etc... Just wanted to know the "weakness" of this car. The headliner on the C-class is destined to come off years later I heard and of course it happened -- it was a fast fix. Just wanted to know what else to look for, I really appreciate it guys.

yeah its crazy .. these cars are not on the road anymore, i rarely see one . sometime they are nice but other times they are P.O.S. Take care of your car and it will take care of you.
