I would like to know if a 1997 c280 brake rotors and pads will fit on my 1997 c230? I'm not sure if they would but the chassis should be the same so I'm guessing they would. I would like to here some of your opinions. Thanks in advance

If the rotors are from a V6 C280 I'm guessing they would. Best thing to do is cross reference both cars on a brake supplies site, if both both part numbers are the same, you're good to go.

I just had a look for you as I have just ordered front rotors and pads for my C230K . The site I used states that both C280 and C230K front rotors are the same @ 288mm diameter/25mm thickness.

Yes they use the same brakes, so there is nothing to convert. If you want to convert/upgrade you can look at C36/C42 calipers and rotors.

**Edit** In 1999-2000, the 230 and 280 used the same brakes, but in 97 they did not.

The reason I ask this is because I bought drilled and slotted rotors for a 1999 c280 for my 1997 c230 thinking they were the same

What about the rear rotors?

I retract my statement. The 99's are the same, but in 97 the 230 and 280 used different brakes.

What I would do then is buy calipers from a '99 and they will bolt on. That will be an upgrade from your '97.

Ah, I forgot the U.S. market is different. Here in Europe the facelift model arrived 1997.

I guess we better check our audience first, haha

Ok I'll do that and let you know.

Ok I'll do that and let you know.

The pistons in the calipers of 99's are slightly larger and combined with the slightly larger rotor, you should notice an increase in braking performance. Front and rears will bolt on.

I am in the process of fitting W220 S600 brembo 4-pots which are aluminium & suit 345mm rotors, and C32 345mm rotors, slight misalignment in caliper to disk so I'm making 3mm (IIRC) hard washers to space the caliper centrall again, and looking at slightly longer mounting bolts to accommodate.
I'll also need custom hoses made, but it's a very cheap way to upgrade (W220 calipers are 50 each from a breakers here in UK).
In case you're looking to do the same, S500 use 330mm and S600 use 345mm rotors..
