Dome light always on

When I bought my 2000 C200T, there were no bulbs in the dome light except the map light. When I put bulbs in there I found that the two lights were permanently on.

I researched online and it seems there is some ways of resetting the dome light module but nothing I tried worked. I tried disconnecting the dome light but that made no difference.

I presume I need to replace my dome light unless someone knows how to fix this issue???

If I get a replacement does it have to be for the 97-00 model or can I use one from the 94-97 model? Can I just swap the electronic circuit board inside the dome light and did these changed between 94-97 and 97-00?

has to be from the same model... I believe they are different.

It means someone before you fried the dome lights and took the bulbs out so that they werent one. Buy a new dome fixture on ebay off a parts car and that will fix your problem. I had the same issue but fried it myself, thats how i know

may also be a wiring problem ... did someone attempt to install aftermarket alarm for example?
