Any way to remove the sensor and not mess the car up running right?

A tuner friend of mine suggested getting rid of the Maf with a piggyback but never got around doing it. They do that on the 1.8T 20v Audi motors. But he says it might not be as easy with the Merc. Speak to a good tuner in your area.

No point in doing that if you can't rewrite the load maps in the ECU. But you can use a MAF in your setup. You need to have a sealed airbox and put the MAF on the intake.
Look at how an older BMW M3 setup looks. ;)
