Drive Shaft blance question.

Just curious does anyone know if the two halves of the drive shaft are individually balanced or if they are balanced as one (as in they have to be lined up perfectly?) After changing the center support bearing I am still getting vibration at high speeds and I am trying to narrow things down. Thanks!

I just went thru same ordeal. I had vibrations coming thru mostly while in second gear. All the mounts were checked, transmission, motor. I did not think that it was from a transmission, so the next logical thing was a drive shaft. I do not know if they balance together or separate. I used a drive shaft from spare car because coupler felt better. When you take drive shaft apart (mark the orientation first ) and grab the spline, move it up, down and sideways, it feels almost like the flat spot in the coupler. The one that was in the car was worst, with more pronounced resistance in the coupling. I used the other shaft with new bearing, new flex disks, and vibrations are finally gone!
