Windshield wiper arm not extending

Seems my c250 '97 doesn't care so much for the corners of my windshield anymore and rather just go oldschool back'n'forth. Tried to figure out why, but I struggle to figure out exactly is the reason for this behavior. Anyone seen this before ?

try spraying some silicone lube on the shaft and see if it improves...

I recall, you can pull off the cover and apply new grease to the mechanizm , 5 min job.
