that would be gay.

at least here up north, where in winter you'd see smoke coming out of only one side and the other one is a fake.

Instad of plugging the exits on the right to your muffler where it will get absolutely nothin, just buy two tips and glue them to your bumper... that would be rice, but it would have the same effect.

Elvir,

Inside the AMG/Mercedes muffler, is catacomb and S shape. You won't be able to punch a hole just about anywhere and expect to split the flow.

I would instead change and move up the muffler right after the resonator or in my case, I put two turbine system staggered one after another (and remove the resonator), then put a high flow Y and split the piping to each side complimented by a nice dual dual tips.

With the high flow Y, you'll find each side with same flow and sound. Furthermore, you'll find the sound deeper with duals.

I ll try to find some dual system we've built for the C, SLK, MLs. :)

PS.. Obviously there are more angles, sizes, routing details than this, but the install order would be...

Here is a sample of high flow Y - CBTP- SS DTM REMUS STYLE TIPS
Keep in mind you are looking at it upside down!

is it possible to get more sound without modifyin the exhausts or changing them?

CKlasse

Kenbenz,

Simply replace your resonator with straight through resonator. $100, you'll get deeper sound.

cool, any other ways also? thanks

Some members here and over at bnzsport have removed their resonators completely. Some says its too loud, others like it. It all depends on what your goal is.

has anyone removed the resonator on a 4 cyl? when u go about removing the resonator, do they just replace it with piping?

i removed my resinator for only thirty bucks..... once you remove your resinator no matter whether you put just piping or anything else there it will be a deeper sound......although keep in mind that if you do remove the resonator and just leave piping you will be hearing all of the mufflers back pressure.....there willl be a crackling noise anywhere over 2200rpm especially when the car is cold........it willl sound almost like i civic speeding down the block

That's easy! Just poke a bunch of holes in your muffler! Voila!

LOL!!:D :D
thats what 14 year old punks do with their scooters here! to make things even worst they then stuff the muffler with toiler paper and then light it on fire so they burn the muffler interior and the damn scooter sounds even higher pitched. ouch!

not really in the mood to do that to my 202! ;)

sound like crap or better?

merc_lover

worst than crap...
imagine the sound that is created when u try to make the screeching sound with a ruler on a table...well that multiplied by 10 adding of course the rattle from the tiny 50 cc two stroke banger.

that is more or less what spanish ppl understand of "performance tuning" :D

I had the resonator removed and a single Random Technologies high flow stainless steel cat running into a remus. It was not really that much louder than stock except under hard acceleration, and did not sound rice at all! It was very deep and throaty, but not droning or tinny, even on decelaration.

In the 4 cylinders case (C220 anyway), the junction just before the resonator was by far the most restrictive section of the entire exhaust system. Removing it in my case made a big difference in power... of course I also really needed the increased flow with the a turbo running at 9psi. Would it make a difference on a stock motor... probably not by much.

You can see pics of my old set-up at:
http://www.turbobenz.com/Parts_FS.htm

My 2 cents,
Jason

i took my resonator off today for $20...IMO it sounds a lot nicer... it got somewhat deeper, but now u can hear the exhaust tone much better

Now by taking the resonator off a c36, would you lose power ?gain power? and why...

Thanks

See Heres the thing... you can think of your exhaust piping as a straw.... and the less areas blocking the free flow of all that comes out of the engine the more power. having the resinator and a catalitic converter is like having the straw with two wet paper towels in it which really dont allow all of the air that is in the straw to pass quickly, yet if you take out your resinator and get a high flow cat (from lets say Magnaflow) and take out your cat you will definately be getting more power because it will be like a straw without anything blocking the airflow.

I just cant believe Benz' owners would put up with the high pitch and baffling over a few bucks saved. :( :(
