Well, I just checked out a 1994 C280, it has 114k miles on it body looks great, interior is perfect. The color is kind a charcoal grey. Does anyone know what the real name of this color is?

Also, the car was serviced at a Mercedes Benz dealer and all the stamps are in place up to about 85000 miles. What should I expect to go wrong first? Also, what other stuff should I look out for before I sign my soul away?

Thanks guys
Martin

for how much?

Has wiring harness been changed?

Has Head gasket been changed?

Things that go out alot are:

MAF
O2 Sensors
Spark plugs
Coil packs
Suppressors
Egr Valve

Good to see you join the w202 family! Hope its a good car.

You should get a warranty but it may be hard with tha milage. Get a Basic mechanical inspection before purchase.

GOOD LUCK

Look for headgasket replacement, mass airflow sensor, engine wiring harness, egr or purge valve...I think those are the most common issues on the early w202's. At that mileage, it may be possible the headgasket may have already been replaced, but check on those items. Other than that, they are pretty reliable. I have a 94 C220 with 135,000 miles and running great!

Good luck with your purchase.

I haven't purchased it yet, but I barely got him to budge from $7500! I offered him $7000, and we were about to walk out when he said... "How about $7250" So I took it.

Regarding the headgasket and wiring harness being changed.. I really don't know. But I will make sure and find out. I've got a shop at my house and am very knowledgable with cars, so doing a wiring harness or headgasket should be cake. Hell. me and my brother completely rebuilt his engine (new pistons, new crank..etc) and turbo charged his '89 BMW 325is in our garage. hehe I think a headgasket and wiring harness shouldn't be too tough

Although you've already purchased the car, I wanted to add three other things to watch out for in the future:

1) OVP

2) Lower ball joints

3) Lower control arm bushings

I know the OVP has been a huge problem with these cars, and while not a difficult repair, it can leave you stranded if it goes. The W202s also seem to eat ball joints and LCA bushings, but the LCA bushings are less frequent. With that kind of mileage, if the front-end work hasn't been done yet, you can count on it in the near future.

Having said that, I love my '94 C280. It is an expensive commitment to make with the price of maintenance, but the car is solid. I hope you enjoy yours as much as I've enjoyed mine.

Yep!

1994 C280

Pearl Black (kinda charcoal greyish).

I'm going to wash it, clean it, polish and wax it (full exterior detail) because it needs it! Then I'll take pictures :D

Black MB Tex interior is immaculate. Cant' find anything wrong with the inside.

There is a dent in the Driver's side door B-pillar trim where someone tried to break in. Does anyone know where I can get this piece, or how much the dealer will charge for it??

Here is a pic of what I'm talking about

Well, let me know. The door seal doesn't mesh right the way it is and is noisy on the freeway  , but no rush.
