As I recalled... on the last post on that thread, I asked for anyone can volunteer their updated 97 lense (in any condition). I cannot do pre updated headlight as they are glued.

That's how I did my S2000 headlights -

Damp towel, popped them into the oven - make sure it's not set to "Broil!!!!"

Glue got hot, pried those suckers apart, cleared out my orange diffuser, re-glued everything.

Of course, it's a lot harder than it sounds - I had to put them in the oven multiple times as I was having trouble with the prying.

But it can be done!! :)

ahaha, I told you, all acura guys.. and honda also, knows how to do that.

If you buy an acura or honda, you'll do that for sure once:)

My roommate used a tub with hotwater and it slowly melted the glue away. He then ripped out his housing for his accord and cleared out the orange and reglued it. Them honda boys.... it defintely does look clean though.

As in cyrstal clear. I know of a local plastic company who can do this. Perhaps when I have some free time!

I'm gonna ask this question in this thread since this is where people mentioned ungluing lenses.

I have a pair of custom smoked tail lights that I bought about a year ago. I didn't notice when I bought them that whoever did them, left a red outline all over them, so there's red going around the smoked areas. I don't like the way it looks, I want to get rid of the red around the smoked areas.

http://img200.imageshack.us/img200/34/dscn0241small1qp.th.jpg (http://img200.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn0241small1qp.jpg)

This is a photoshop of what I want it to look like: http://img10.imageshack.us/img10/655/dscn0241small26cp.th.jpg (http://img10.imageshack.us/my.php?image=dscn0241small26cp.jpg)

I just took them off the car and put back my OEM ones (old version, non-smoked, hate them too :p), so I want to buy one of those tint sprays and finish the job and smoke the outline around the area that was alread smoked out.

So, I'm gonna post some pictures of the glued parts to give more info. Now the head lights are glass, the tails are plastic, can I still put them in the oven? I think yes, coz I remember someone talking about putting the corners in the oven. How hot do I set it? And how long do I put it in the oven? And do I have to use a damp towel? And what do you cover with the towel? Or was it just used for the glass and I don't need it?

I'll appreciate all the help I can get from those who know. Thanks.

I'm not sure this can be done to the tail lights I have with an oven. I just tried putting them in the oven for like 7 minutes on 250 F and nothing happened. They were hot, I had trouble managing them, but nothing happened to the adhesion.

Actually, looking closer at them, it looks like there's no glue, it looks like whoever did this did it by melting the inside plastic frame that holds the screws (the gray looking plastic in the pics) onto the lens.

I tried heating up one of those knives you use to cut paper in shapes on the stove, it got really hot, but it would cool off too soon after that.

I'm thinking of trying more direct heat, should I torch it lol? :D
