aright i have a 94 c280, and its pretty old. The problem is that i can't rev it above 4300 rpms.. Is that an issue or does everybody else rev more than that... Cause i thought i could put it higher than that. Just checkin. If you can tell me the reason why i can't that would be great.. thanks..

It should pull all the way to redline. If not, something's wrong. If there is something wrong it could be hurting your fuel economy and pay for getting fixed in a couple weeks. Hard to say, need more info Like did you just tune it up, or maybe you should do some searching in 202 for things like MAF, power, ... and CEL & good luck.;)

No i think it is the Rev limiter. Mbs can only rev to 4k. In park or neutral. Unless ur rolling in neutral u cant get the revs over 4k. its normal. Its so u dont "damage" the engine.

My 96 c280 will rev quite happily to red in park, neutral or the lower gears. I wish it would pull to red in top gear though.

My 1995 C36 and my 1998 C43 both only rev to 4k and so does my freinds CLK55. but maybe its only amgs? Can someone clarify?

While your in park or neutral, you CANNOT rev past 4300 RPM's...it cuts you off from damaging the engine.

If you can rev past that while in park or neutral, then your rev limiter is not functioning correctly.

I've tried this on my benzes to see if any go past and they don't, that's ranging from 94 - 01.

4K in neutral?? I hope that's not what shinbri116 meant. If so, I feel like an old fub de dub. My engines never get any where near redline unless their under load. ;) :D

I find this Rev limiter annoying. freinds wanna hear it but it only goes to 4.3k and they think somethings wrong, but they stop talking when they are eating AMG dust

The engine must be under load for you to hit the red line!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It's becomming obvious why they put revlimiters in! When I was young most cars could be floored in neutral. They didn't have enough cam/ were too low performance / points ignition/.....Wouldn't blow up. Now try this with something that is actually of reasonable perfromance without a limiter. You'd be very lucky to not have pieces laying on the ground that don't belong there. If you had your foot to the floor at 6200 RPM (in neutral & Assuming that the ECU will give you full throttle, or it is a carb, or mech FI) do you think that you could have it all the way off by 6400 RPM? ;)

The tack doesn't keep up if your really winging the throttle. Have to trust your ears.
