c250 turbodiesel parts

i have located in a scrap yard the turbocharger from a totalled c250 td. and i am strongly thinking on getting it... i believe it should be useful in my 220 as i can adapt it to my engine... i know that turbo charger was designed to start acting at rpm ranges typical of a diesel engine and not a gasoline engine, but i can control that with wastegates and dump valves right? and if im not wrong i could get around 40-50 hp right? plus if i get a goot intercooler with it, so much the better right?
