Widest tire on 8 inch rims

Ok, can I put 245/35/18 on 8 inch rims? The guy at tire rack said I can't. What do you guys think?
Also, do you have problems with the ABS if the front tires are 225/40/18 & the rear are 245/35/18?

I think you would be pushing it. I've tried 235x40x18 and I don't have any problem with it.
