Fiber optic Cd changer question

Is the the 1998 w202 CD changer fiber optic or did they change in 1999?

i have a 98 c230 mine is not fiber optic i am pulling out my alpine changer and adapter this weekend cuz im changing my head unit.. being offered up for sale soon !

99 is definitely Fiber Optic.

actually depending on which head unit you have, you should be able to tell if you have fiber optic or not.

Edit:

If you can a hole for the cassete to be put in, then it is not fiber optic
Otherwise, it is the new head unit with fiber optic CD changer.

US spec 98s all have non fiber...US spec 99s all have fiber (except for the M-class...)
