You need a spring compressor to do it safely.

If you scroll down 4 or 5 posts, you'll see " finished my fine-tuning".
That was my experience with front springs.
Unless you have a "Klann" compressor, you will have to do the same. ;)

Its kinda funny but this old Italian mechanic I know around here says hes been doing benz springs for a long time without any compressor. He says he uses some jack stands and a jack and just lets the spring out?

it's not funny,

just do a search, a lot of us here like myself removed the front spring without spring compressor (I have swapped and tried out 3 different spring pad on my car by myself).

Some member just merely suggesting with Klann spring kompressor (specific for MB) will allow a quicker job. ;)

That's what I meant by funny, I always see people on Benz boards talking about how you have to have a Klann but I think its like anything else, true ability is doing things even under not so ideal conditions and working with what you have although don't get me wrong, safety goes without saying. Its like being a good driver in a Ferrari, yeah thats cool but anybody can drive a Ferrari like they're a Schumacher but true ability is being a good driver in something like a Fiat 500 lol.
